In June 2011, Huawei Australia announced the creation of a local Board of Directors – Huawei’s first local Board anywhere in the world. The Board is comprised of three independent local Directors, including the Chairman, and four Huawei Directors from Huawei’s local, regional, and global offices.

John Lord AM FAICD – Chairman and Independent Director

Mr Lord is presently Chairman of DMS Maritime Services Pty Ltd and a member of the Victorian Government’s Defence Council as well as other Government advisory bodies. Mr Lord is a former Chief Executive and Director of the Marine Board of Victoria, and a member of the Australian Maritime Group and the National Plan Committee for maritime emergency responses around Australia. John was Executive Director of P&O Maritime Services, and was also a Director of Australian Maritime Systems, Austen Maritime Services Pte based in Singapore, and P&O Maritime Services UK and South Africa. Mr Lord served with the Royal Australian Navy for over 36 years and retired with the rank of Rear Admiral.

John Brumby –
Independent Director

John Brumby is the former Premier of Victoria (2007 – 2010). He has immense experience in public life serving for more than 10 years as Treasurer and then Premier of Victoria, 6 years as Leader of the Victorian Opposition and 7 years as Federal MHR for Bendigo during the period of the Hawke Government. Mr Brumby holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne and a Diploma of Education from the State College of Victoria, Rusden. Since retiring from politics, Mr Brumby has accepted a number of Board positions as well as a joint appointment to both Melbourne and Monash Universities as a Vice-Chancellor’s Professorial Fellow.

Alexander Downer –
Independent Director

Mr Downer retired from politics in 2008 after a distinguished career spanning 23 years. He was Australia’s longest serving foreign minister during the Howard Government from March 1996 to December 2007. He was Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Parliamentary Liberal Party from May 1994 to January 1995.

He has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Politics and Economics and is a Doctor of Civil Laws (honoris causa). Mr Downer also holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Bar Ilan University.

Mr Downer is a Partner in his firm, Bespoke Approach, a strategic advisory business as well as the Secretary General of the United Nation’s Special Advisor on Cyprus at the level of Under Secretary General. He is also a Visiting Professor of Politics and International Trade at the University of Adelaide and sits on a number of boards.

Guo Fulin – Director and Huawei Australia CEO

Mr Guo has been with Huawei for 11 years, starting in Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen China. Mr Guo then moved to Thailand, where he worked as a product manager for mobile solutions. Mr Guo then worked as Deputy Managing Director in Indonesia and Malaysia before moving to Sri Lanka as Managing Director. Mr Guo was appointed the Australian CEO in August 2008.

Jeff Liu – Director and Southern Pacific Regional President

Mr. Jiangfeng (Jeff) Liu is the President of Southern Pacific Region and Vice President of Asia Pacific Region of Huawei. Mr. Liu has more than 15 years of solid technical and management experience and has held senior product and business development positions within Huawei since 2000. He originally joined the company in 1996, and obtained his bachelor degree in Engineering (computer software) from Dongnan University, China.

Chen Lifang – Director and Huawei Global Board Director

Ms. Chen graduated from Northwest University. She joined Huawei in 1995, and has served successively as Chief Representative of the Beijing Representative Office, Vice President of the International Marketing Department, Deputy Director of the Domestic Marketing Management Office, President of the Public Affairs and Communications Department, and Corporate Senior Vice President. Ms Chen is a Director on Huawei’s global Board of Directors.

Li Jie (Jason Li) – Director and Huawei Global Board Executive Director

Born in 1967, Mr. Li holds a Master's Degree from Xi'an Jiao Tong University. Mr. Li joined Huawei in 1992, and has served successively as Regional President, President of the Global Technical Service Department, President of the Human Resource Department, and President of the Joint Committee of Regions. Mr Li is an Executive Director on Huawei’s global Board of Directors.
